OJSC STC entered a GTS-STS telephone exchange into operation with a total capacity of 66,066 lines, as well as a GTS exchange with a total capacity of 60,244 numbers and an STS  facility with 5,822 numbers.  Of the total number of line capacity entered into service in 2001, electronic exchanges account for 92.5% or 61,092 lines, while 29,628 lines of the total number in service were replacements.

In the city of Krasnodar 50,880 were entered into service in 2001, of which 28,828 lines served as replacements for obsolete ATE analogue lines.  The commissioning of digital exchanges will make it possible to upgrade the quality of services provided and expand the range of new services available.

In order to better meet the needs of long-distance and international traffic in the region and for vacationers, 4,230 new channels have been added on to the telephone exchange in Krasnodar and 960 in Sochi.  Digitalization continues in the region, which involves building a 70.2 km line from the Starominsk to Starosherbinsk to the city of Eisk while a 105 km fiber-optic network spanning Ust-Labinsk and Kurganinsk is also underway.

The following telephone facilities have been commissioned with a total area of 9414 ?², including:

• -     an RUS facility in B-Glina with an area of 685 ?²,
• -     an RUS facility in the Kaliniskaya exchange with an area of 8,500 ?²,
• -     a public calling facility in the Kushevsky exchange with an area of 229,075 ?², which improves workers' conditions. 

The total value of fixed assets commissioned in 2001 was Rub 661,590 which is up 134.7% year-on-year, while Rub 688,692,000 were spent on investments, which is up 124.4% y-o-y.
