Moscow. 31 January 2005. Today, RAO "UES of Russia" and the US-based General Electric International Inc. ("GE") have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document is intended to facilitate the development of cooperation in the field of heat and hydro generation, power plant engineering, investments and electricity generation using renewable energy sources.
In accordance with the MoU, the parties plan to start implementing their agreements. Specifically, it is planned to hold joint seminars on the prospects of development of Russia's energy industry; evaluate the possibility of producing energy equipment in Russia necessary for the modernization and upgrade of the existing energy facilities and construction of new facilities.
Besides, the Russian company showed interest in studying the regulatory experience and practice of the USA and European countries in developing renewable energy sources.
The MoU was signed during a series of meetings between the executives of RAO "UES of Russia" and GE to discuss cooperation between the two companies. The talks between RAO "UES of Russia" and GE are part of the Russia-US energy dialogue.
