Russian prime-minister Mikhail Kasyanov signed a decree giving away awards in the fields of science and technology. At Severstal, awards were given to Sergei Zinchenko, manager of the Quality section of the Technical department, candidate of technical sciences, and Valeri Loginov, head of the blast furnace shop.
Government award for Development and Mastering of Industrial Production of a New Class of Universal Charge Materials of the Synticom Type for High Quality Steel Smelting was given to a group of representatives of seven science and research companies and industrial companies, including Severstal.
Severstal is a pioneer in development of technology, production and use of Synticom. This charge material is made in the blast furnace shop out of pig iron and other iron-containing materials. It is used for smelting of high quality steels in the converter and shaft furnace. Steels for automotive industry are made of Synticom. Russian scientists from science and research institute Chermet and Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys participated in the project.
Government awards were given to 38 more creative groups. The awarded works deal with various issues - from airspace to education. The awards were received by various scientists: developers of new materials for automotive industry and authors of text books of economics.
