Severstal-Mebel (Severstal-Furniture), a Severstal subsidiary, which was spun off March 1, received diploma in the Best Value for Money category of the Mebelera - northwestern furniture fair - held in St. Petersburg.
Diploma was awarded for furniture models in the bedrooms section. Original design and color spectrum of two bedroom suites in pastel colors were acknowledged not just by buyers but visitors as well. One bedroom suit was purchased the next day after the opening of the exhibit.
Presented bedroom suits were not the only type of new products made with metal frames, which Severstal-Mebel is ready to mass produce. In 2001, Severstal furniture division developed, mastered and started production of two new bed models, each of which had several modifications. Additionally, the company made test models of folding tables, which experts said will have a wide scope of uses, including public catering, especially in summer cafes. On top of that, Severstal-Mebel mastered production of three new chair models and is now busy creating their modifications.
In 2002, high-tech style furniture production will be mastered. Test models of this type of furniture made with metal and glass were already presented at two exhibits, including Mebelera.
By Severstal general director's decree two companies were spun off from Seversstal. However, Severstal continues to keep a 100% share in the two companies, including Severstal-Mebel. In the last two years when the companies were preparing for the spin off, their profits grew by 50-80% as compared with the previous year. The same growth is planned for 2002.
