On 29th October, 2001 Sberbank and the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), which represents the Russian Federation in the international Olympic movement, signed several documents on co-operation to support the Olympic movement in Russia and revive the country's athletic traditions. The co-operation agreement envisages a mutually beneficial partnership within joint projects and programs to foster sports in Russia. Under the sponsorship agreement signed by the parties, Sberbank will donate 300 thousand US dollars to the Russian Olympic Committee. Under the agreement Sberbank will issue VISA International cards for the members of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Team of Russia. International VISA Gold bank cards will be also issued for Olympic prize winners from Russia so that cash prizes shall be credited to their card accounts. The Russian Olympic Committee grants Sberbank the right to the title of "Official Partner of the Russian Team at Winter Olympic Games 2002". The parties will also consider the possibility of jointly developing a project of VISA International card product. By supporting the Olympic movement Sberbank is making its contribution to the development of sports and athletics in Russia, promoting a healthy lifestyle and helping to bring up a new generation of Russian athletes.
