In 2000 MOSENERGO performed overhaul repairs of 69 substations with voltage of 35, 110, 220 and 500 kW in 13 network subsidiaries. Repairs are conducted annually in accordance with the 8-year repair plan for substations of this type. MOSENERGO currently embraces a total of 635 high-voltage substations. Many of them were constructed 40 or 50 years ago, including some with voltage of 500 kW, for example substations Noginsk, Chagino, and Ochakovo which now require overhaul renewal and renovation.
In 2001 MOSENERGO plans to conduct series of broad-spectrum repair and maintenance activities at more then 60 substations with voltage of 110, 220, and 500 kW. Reconstruction and renovation activities will start to be implemented at two 110 kW substations: No.91 Ugresha (built 1933) and No.179 Cherkizovo (built 1934), both part of Eastern networks.
Overhaul repairs of power equipment have already started at Podolsk electric networks' facilities. It's worth noting that in order to ensure the uninterrupted supply of power to customers, repair activities are conducted without taking the equipment out of operation. Customers continue to receive power through other substations' feeders or through reserve power supply schemes. Repairs will be topped by a complete maintenance check of all the renewed equipment. Similar activities are being conducted at Kolomensk electric networks. According to the head of MOSENERGO's High-voltage Electric Networks Service Mr. V.Kovyrkin, "here at MOSENERGO we conduct repair and preventive maintenance activities all year round to ensure the uninterrupted supply of power and heat to customers."
