In 2001 the Shatura-based Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant 5 (HPSPP-5) plans to repair all six of its power units. The plant has already started to implement the scheduled repairs. Unit 5 was put into operation on March 13. Unit 1 is scheduled to undergo repairs from March 12 through April 1. HPSPP wants to complete the repairs before the start of the next heating season.
"Due to extensive wear on the plant's power units we try to increase our investments in repair program every year," says Vasily Nazarkin, HPSPP-5 deputy chief engineer of capital construction. This year the plant plans to spend about 234 million rubles on repairs; last year's repairs cost 174 million rubles.
Moreover, MOSENERGO is implementing the program "Moscow Region Power Development Program through 2010" adopted by MOSENERGO in cooperation with the governments of Moscow and Moscow region. HPSPP-5 is currently reconstructing and exchanging outdated power capacities. The program is scheduled to exchange all depleted power units by 2010.
According to the plan, between 2001 and 2005 MOSENERGO plans to exchange 1740 MW of power capacities.
