The output of TEZ-22 increased by 10 megawatt of electric power and 10 gigacalories after a modernized turbine was put into operation, Ivan Kozlov, Director of TEZ-22, said today at a ceremony to launch the upgraded T-110 turbine.

During the modernization of TEZ-22, the old turbine T-100 was replaced by the new T-110. "The turbine has been out of operation since March 2000 which means the output of the power station will grow by 110 megawatt after the launch of the new turbine," Kozlov said.

The modernized turbine is more reliable. To upgrade the turbine for TEZ-22, specialists from Uralski Turbomotornii Zavod and MOSENERGO applied the newest technical solutions. In addition, the upgrade cost three times less than manufacturing a brand new turbine.

TEZ-22 supplies electric and heating power to more than 1.5 million people living in Moscow and Moscow region: South-Western district of Moscow, the town of Dzerzhinskii and more than 150 enterprises in the Moscow region. According to Igor Goryunov, AO MOSENERGO Chief Engineer, the share of the TEZ-22 branch of AO MOSENERGO in producing electric and heating power in Russia correspondingly equals 1 percent and 1.4 percent. In the Moscow region this share is 10 percent.

Goryunov said, "Putting the newly modernized turbine No.7 into operation will increase reliability of supplying heat and electricity to consumers in conditions of growing energy consumption in the Moscow region. This is a solid achievement of Moscow power engineering specialists which should not be underestimated. In addition, this turbine is the first power unit to be put into operation in Russia this year."

For 2002, TEZ-22 has scheduled a similar modernization of a turbine at power unit No.8 and replacement of boilers and equipment for chemical treatment.
