The general agreement covers a wide range of areas and projects open to possible cooperation between MOSENERGO and Siemens. Thus, the agreement cites possible joint projects for production of high-voltage equipment, technical assistance in designing, implementing and operating highly-integrated Siemens sulphur hexafluoride switches, as well as the possible participation of the German company in the modernization of existing steam turbines and technical upgrades of AO MOSENERGO power stations by introducing highly effective steam/gas units (PGUs).
According to A. Mityaev, deputy general director of MOSENERGO for electric grids and perspective development, who was appointed co-chairman of the Coordination Committee for Cooperation between MOSENERGO and Siemens, it is difficult to underestimate the significance of this agreement. "Up to this day, MOSENERGO, and, it seems to me, any other company, has not entered in such a comprehensive and promising agreement. MOSENERGO will be able to use very reliable and safe equipment at its facilities and the most modern technologies, which will allow for an increase in the effectiveness of the company's operations as well as in saving energy, which is rather important today. It is also worth noting that we are planning to launch joint production of competitive equipment in Russia, using Siemens parts," Mityaev said.
Hans Getze, director of the department for Transmission and Distribution of Energy of Siemens, stressed that the company's strategy in Russia aims to maximally use local resources in R&D and services. "Siemens wants to take part in restoration and development of the Russian economy, including the traditional energy sector. Cooperation with MOSENERGO, a leading Russian energy company, provides bright opportunities in this area," Getze said.
AO MOSENERGO's representative said that in accordance with the signed agreement, Siemens will be able to participate on tender basis in reconstruction and construction of new energy facilities of AO MOSENERGO.
