The Third All-Russia Exhibition on “Energy Saving in Russian Regions” is being held November 27-30, 2001, under the Federal Target Program “Energy Saving in Russia” in order to stimulate activities in the area of saving energy in Russia. The exhibition demonstrates the most modern achievements in the area of energy saving technologies, environmental protection, use of natural resources and renewable sources of energy from 45 Russian regions.
AO Mosenergo has implemented a comprehensive and efficient energy saving policy both in the area of energy production and consumption. The Power Company's additional focus on energy saving stems from the steady growth of energy consumption in the Moscow region and the consequent need to meet growing loads. The energy consumption growth in the Moscow region through 2020 is forecast at 2.5 -5%.
Aiming to considerably raise the efficiency of energy production and to lower energy consumption, the company has developed and is currently fulfilling the “Program for Energy Saving at AO Mosenergo Through 2010.”
AO Mosenergo has presented the most effective energy saving technologies at the exhibition “Energy Saving in the Russian Regions.” 1. The pipes insulated with polyurethane foam. In comparison with traditional insulation, the life of pipes insulated with polyurethane foam is 2-3 times longer. The new insulation helps to cut heat losses 3 times, capital expenditures – 1.5 times, cost of heat lines repairs – 3 times, operational expenses – 9 times. Based on European experience, the life of heating grids with polyurethane insulation is no less than 30 years. One of the advantages of the new technology is that it makes it possible to stop cutting hot water supply to residential areas during annual maintenance.
2. Extension bellows. This new technology helps to reduce general heat losses through increasing the tightness of connections, stop using hard manual labor during the repair and maintenance of expansion glands and reduce the size of facilities. The use of extension bellows in heating grids at AO Mosenergo in 2000 helped to cut the use of technical water supply by 8.2 million tons.
3. Gas turbine utilization unit TGU-11. The main purpose of the unit is to use the energy of excessive natural gas pressure through electricity generation. The new technology makes it possible to carry out the most economical regulation when changing the gas consumption within 23%, as well as to considerably increase the internal productivity of the turbine. AO Mosenergo plans to introduce TGU-11 units at a number of power stations starting in 2002.
4. The complex steam and gas unit with steam injection. This power unit helps to save power when producing electric and heat energy, its productivity is 52%, and the fuel utilization coefficient is more than 95%, the emission of nitrogen is less than 40 mg/m3. In comparison with similar traditional technologies this unit saves up to 30% of fuel. The payback period is 2-3 years.
