TEZ-11 supplies energy to the Perovo district in Moscow. Until now three turbines were operational at TEZ, producing in total 250 MWt. The new PT-80 turbine will be the fourth turbine at TEZ.

Turbines of this type have a good record and have been used for many years in the Russian utilities sector. PT-80 belongs to the so-called steam-discharge type turbine that is capable of generating not only electricity, but also heat energy, which considerably increases the effectiveness of these turbines. The productivity of this turbine equals 188 Gcal/hour.

In mid-December 2001, TEZ-11 had already conducted a complex test of the machine during a 72-hour operation cycle. Effective December 26, the turbine will be put into continuous operation. “The decision to install PT-80 was made because of increasing energy consumption in this district and the growing capacity of enterprises operating there,” said TEZ-11 chief engineer Gennady Kolechkin.

The installation of PT-80 was not the only project at TEZ-11 in 2001. As a result of steadily growing consumption in the Perovo district, two cable lines from TEZ-11 to substations “Frezer-3” and “Boskakovo” were also laid. Specialists from TEZ-11 have successfully managed this task by laying two 110 kV lines 10 km long each. Thus, the total number of lines originating from TEZ-11 equals six.

According to AO MOSENERGO specialists, energy consumption in Moscow and the Moscow district has increased by 3% during the last 12 months and continues to grow. The installation of the new turbine at TEZ-11 should be viewed in this respect as an important part of AO MOSENERGO’s strategic plan aimed at putting into operation in 2001 new facilities capable of producing 190 MWt. The plan also provided for replacement of the generating 100 MWt turbine at TEZ-22, the laying of more than 600 km of electric lines and 50 km of cable lines.

With the operation of the new turbine at TEZ-11, AO MOSENERGO’s plan for introducing new facilities has been fulfilled 100%.
