September 9, 1997. - LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov left today for a working visit to St. Petersburg where he is to meet the city's governor Vladimir Yakovlev.

The two will discuss further cooperation between LUKOIL, the city and surrounding region.

Alekperov will also attend the opening ceremonies of two LUKOIL filling stations in the city.

"Our company attaches great importance to expansion in the area and plans to enlarge its network of filling stations in St. Petersburg and its environs," he said.

Alekperov will also attend the Russian Summit, an international conference organized by Business Week magazine which invited the LUKOIL president as a guest of honor.

On April 9, 1997 LUKOIL signed an agreement with the St. Petersburg city administration on cooperation in the sale of oil and petroleum products, and the production and delivery of oil extracting equipment and machinery.

The Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg is making five ice-going tankers for LUKOIL.
