17 September, 1997. - LUKOIL and Izhmash signed a general cooperation agreement in Izhevsk today.

Under the agreement, LUKOIL will meet all of Izhmash's needs in fuels, lubricants, coolants and other petrochemical products, in particular for initial fueling and greasing of cars. LUKOIL will also develop new effective products of this kind to meet Izhmash's needs.

Izhmash, for its part, will advertise and market LUKOIL's fuels and lubricants and provide the areas of its car and motorcycle maintenance stations inside and outside Russia for the construction of LUKOIL's fueling stations. If needed, Izhmash will manufacture certain kinds of equipment for LUKOIL's operations.

For marketing purposes Izhmash will transfer to LUKOIL its conventional products such as cars and machine tools and products made for LUKOIL.

Izhmash is a major manufacturer of defense hardware, cast iron, cars, motorcycles and machine tools.

Cooperation with auto works is an important field of the company's activities in stepping up the sales of fuels and lubricants, LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov said.

LUKOIL has earlier signed similar agreements with KamAZ, AvtoVAZ, ZIL, YelAZ and UralAZ.
