30 December, 1997. - LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov and Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District Yuri Neyelov on December 29 signed a cooperation agreement.
Under the agreement, the sides will broaden cooperation in the production, transportation and sale of oil and gas condensate on the Russian and foreign markets.
The agreement also provides for broadening contacts in the production and supplies of oil-field equipment and machines, and in providing scientific and technological back-up for new projects in the oil and gas industries and in other economic branches.
The agreement has a protocol which specifies projects to be implemented by the sides in the near future. LUKOIL in 1998 will build gas filling stations in Salekhard. By the year 2000 LUKOIL is to put into service apartment houses with total floorspace of about 25,000 square meters, and also cultural and every-day service centers, including a general educational school for 320 pupils, a music school, a hospital, a covered market and a laundry and dry cleaners.
Earlier, LUKOIL had signed cooperation agreements with the authorities of St.Petersburg, the Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Astrakhan, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Vologda, Volgograd, Sverdlovsk and Kirov regions, the Chukot Autonomous District and the republics of Tatarstan, Mari-El, Ingushetia, Yakutia (Sakha), Dagestan and Adygeya.
