OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (“MMK”) and JSC Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant (“ChelPipe”) reviewed progress on their cooperation during the first eight months of 2015 and outlined their plans for further development at the 17th Coordination Board meeting on strategic cooperation. The companies discussed delivery discipline, production quality, capacity utilisation for Q4 2015 and joint participation in promising oil and gas projects, including Nord Stream 2.

The success of the cooperation between ChelPipe and MMK can be seen in our involvement in large-scale and complex projects in the energy sector, such as Power of Siberia, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Zapolyarye-Purpe, and a number of others,” said Boris Kovalenkov, Director of Commerce at ChelPipe. “Coordination Boards enable us to maximise the efficiency of our cooperation. Such meetings form a dialogue that help us resolve any issues or problems in a way that ultimately gives our products a competitive edge.”
“At the Coordination Board meetings with our key consumers, we review our intermediate results and develop key areas for future cooperation,” said Nikolai Lyadov, Deputy CEO for Sales at MMK. “I would like to emphasise the positive nature of our relationship with ChelPipe Group as the supplier to their mills. During the first eight months of 2015, our supplies grew in comparison with the same periods in 2013 and 2014, to 453,276 tonnes of metal of various compositions. Another important point is our recent decision to produce flat steel, to be used in output pipes such as those in the Extreme North projects. We have also adopted the production of X100 strength flat steel.
The next Coordination Board of ChelPipe and MMK will be held in H1 2016 in Magnitogorsk.
