Rosseti Volga

April 30, 2015

Mordovenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, is ready for 2015 fire season

Power engineers of Mordovenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (subsidiary of Rosseti, JSC), completed a sweeping campaign to prepare for fire season. Extra measures aiming at reliable operation of power facilities under high ambient temperatures include check of cable ducts for compliance with fire safety requirements, automation of fire fighting systems, and operational check of special machinery, equipment and tools (for making fire dikes, clearing rights-of-way and slash disposal). The staff of production departments and RES (distribution zones) focuses on availability of emergency reserve, condition machines and devices used for quick elimination of technological failures of power equipment, transmission lines and substations. Mordovenergo's professionals also checked land-storage tanks for oil, fuel and lubricants and side guards of oil headers of oil-filled equipment. PD's personnel attended a scheduled briefing to address issues of the occupational safety and emergency response procedures during fire season. Mordovenergo initiated accident and fire prevention exercises involving administrative, technical, operating, emergency maintenance and repair staff. The staff involved in fire safety exercises practiced the use of fire extinguishers for suppressing simulated fire. The preparation is carried out jointly with the territorial EMERCOM departments: powermen and EMERCOM officers monitor fire hazards in the region and participate in exercises intended to improve their teamwork skills for effective response to fire emergency situations.
