Penzaenergo, a brabch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, prepares for 2015 fire season

Penzaenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (subsidiary of Rosseti, JSC), systematically implements a set of measures aimed to prevent equipment damage and ensure reliable power supply to consumers, as well as to protect life and health of its employees throughout the fire season. The campaign against fire danger involved fire diking around storage areas accommodating transformer oil, fuel and lubricants and removal of combustible waste materials and dried grass from the territories of the Company. Penzaenergo's specialists also checked the condition of fire hydrants and internal fire pipeline and provided additional fire fighting equipment for buildings, production areas and vehicles. In addition, power professionals replaced old prohibition and warning fire safety signs and fire exit signs located in buildings, structures, premises and production areas in compliance with the applicable regulations, and checked automated fire alarm systems. The personnel involved in operations in fire hazardous areas of power transmission lines and substations attended fire safety briefings. Penzaenergo's PDs hosted accident and fire prevention exercises for administrative, technical, operating, emergency maintenance and repair staff to practice use of fire extinguishers for suppressing simulated fire. The preparation for the 2015 fire season is carried out jointly with the territorial EMERCOM departments: powermen and EMERCOM officers monitor fire hazards in the region and participate in exercises intended to improve their teamwork skills for effective response to fire emergency situations.
