Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, summarized the results of power loss reduction campaign

Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, summarized the results of activities carried out in 2012 aimed to control input of electricity to the branch grid, net supply and electric power losses. In 2012, volumes of electric power input into the grid operated by Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC amounted to 4,808,580 million kW•h – an increase by 0.76 % as compared with 2011. Likewise, net supply of electric power in 2012 increased by 0.84 %, amounting to 4,535,591 million kW•h. As compared with 2011, losses of electric power in the grids operated by Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC reduced by 1,902 million kW•h in 2012, amounting to 272,989 million kW•h. Reduction of electric power losses over time is a key indicator used to assess the operating efficiency of the company, and the relevant activities constitute one of the focus areas of the Energy Savings and Increased Energy Efficiency Program. Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC is committed to continuing its efforts to keep power losses at the lowest level possible. Every year specialists of the company take every effort to systematically reduce the relative values of electric power losses, by implementing a number of technical and organizational activities aimed to increase net supply of electric power. In this context, measures to trace occurrences of unaccounted electric power supply or the absence of the relevant agreements are of primary concern. As practice shows, the most commonly identified violations include interference in the operation of metering devices and illegal actions of consumers, resulting in garbling the actual consumption figures (unauthorized connections to overhead power transmission lines, unregistered/unauthorized supply points, meter tampering or meter by-passing, etc). As a reference: in 2012, 1,088 occurrences of unaccounted power consumption were reported, to the total amount of 3,923 million kW•h. Pursuant to Article 7.19 of the RF Administrative Code, administrative proceedings for unauthorized (unaccounted) use of electric power were instituted against 19 persons. In 2013, Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC will continue its efforts to reduce losses in the electric power grids. Money saved by such measures will be allocated for activities aimed to increase reliability and quality of power supply for consumers of the Chuvash Republic.
