Mine construction workers of Uralkali carried out unique work in the Kungur Ice Cave

The excursion path of the Kungur Ice Cave passes through wonderful grottos named "Cross-Shaped," "Coral," "Polar," "Dante" - the total length of the tour is 1400 meters. Ice crystals, gypsum arches, stone rocks and ice cascades. This is one of few such caves in the world. Thousands of tourists come here every year to admire this unique creation of nature.

The scientists who work at a nearby laboratory carry out observation of the geological processes and conduct various studies.

For 25 years, excursions to the Kungur Ice Cave are organized by Permtoursit Company, which does not only take care of tourists but also participates in the scientific studies conducted in the cave and is concerned with the preservation of this natural monument.

It was at the initiative of Permtourist that the mine construction workers of Uralkali performed repair work in the cave. For three weeks, the specialists of the Construction-Erection Trust (BShSU), a subsidiary of Uralkali, were strengthening the cave arches, correcting the footpath and carried out other special work.

"It is our first experience. We had to work very carefully, often by hand," says Igor Vyletok, BShSU Director. "This is not a very difficult assignment technically, but the cave is a unique structure. Therefore, we followed the physician's motto "First, do no harm."

Having signed the work performance protocol the representatives of Permtoursit and the Mining Institute expressed their satisfaction with the work done by the Berezniki workers and reached an agreement with them on future cooperation.

"The BShSU specialists have excellently coped with their task and today the excursion path of the Kungur Ice Cave meets all modern requirements," says Irina Burkatskaya, Director of Permtourist. "We are glad that we have found professionals and want to continue cooperation with them."
