On March 28, 2004 Brodosplit Shipyard, Croatia launched tanker “Governor Farkhutdinov” (Hull No 440) being built for Primorsk Shipping Corporation (PRISCO). This is a final stage in the ship building. There are some months left before putting it into operation, it is planned to be accepted in July of the present year. Simultaneously with launching of Aframax “Governor Farkhutdinov” of 108,000 tons dwt. the same class tanker “Sakhalin Island” is going on to be prepared for the acceptance ceremony. Vessel with symbolic for the company name has successfully passed running tests and it is prepared for final works at the shipyard. Christening and acceptance ceremony will be held in the middle of April 2004. In the nearest two – three years Primorsk Shipping Corporation plans to include into its fleet minimum five tankers of 100,000 tons dwt. PRISCO has already entered into contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries (South Korea), leading company in the world shipbuilding for building of three aframaxes of 100,000 dwt. for transportation of oil for Project Sakhalin-I. Program of building of large-tonnage tankers will allow PRISCO to become one of the largest Russian shipping companies; total deadweight of PRISCO bulk-oil fleet will increase up to 1,500 mln. tons.
