Led by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, a joint meeting of the Gazprom Emergency Response & Fire Safety Commission and the Civil Defense Board took place today at the Company's headquarters.
The meeting was informed on the readiness of Gazprom's subsidiary companies and organizations to protect employees and corporate property against natural and man-made emergencies.
The meeting participants summed up the Commission and Board performance over 2010 highlighting that actions taken by the corporate civil defense system staff helped prevent fire propagation to the Company's facilities during the summer wildfires.
Consideration was given to the opportunities for using a new set of equipment to mitigate emergencies at railway tanks carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Designed on Gazprom's order, the set of equipment is unparalleled in Russia. The meeting noted that the equipment would considerably raise the LPG transportation security.
In addition, the participants discussed the challenges to be faced by the Commission and the Board in 2011.
