PRISCO Training Center provides training to crew officers responsible for safety of vessels. Presently two groups of seafarers are being trained here, 35 of them are PRISCO employees and 5 are representatives of other shipping companies. As it is known International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted several legal documents and international standards on Safety Navigation, including Code on Safety of Vessels and Port Facilities and amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS - 74), implementation – by July 2004. According to these documents shipping companies shall fulfill a number of new requirements. One of them is to include Safety Officers into vessels crews, otherwise vessels will not be allowed to enter ports of the countries – members of SOLAS Convention. S.I. Vikharev, Head of PRISCO Training Center said that PRISCO had invited Commodore Kevin DeBrass – Consultant of MUSC (Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants, London, Great Britain) to come to Nakhodka for training of Safety Officers. The MUSC Company is recognized all over the world in this area. After successful finishing of the Training Courses the seafarers will be issued International Certificates approved by DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Kevin DeBrass has also given the special Course for the trainers who had been earlier trained at the Saint Petersburg State Marine Academy. After finishing new course three trainers from the Training Center will get an exclusive right to train Safety Officers as for PRISCO and other organizations.
