Ðowermen of the «Interregional Distribution Grid Company of Volga », «Saratov distribution grids”, branch notice that this year ice period has been delayed till January. As a rule, ice phenomena on wires appear in the end of November, however this winter mass occurrence of ice has begun in the middle of January in Krasnoarmeysk direction. Over 470 km of transmission lines of all classes of pressure have been subjected to ice formations. At first on wires there was a dense hoarfrost, then the mixed adjournments in the size from 30 to 70 mm were formed. Sometimes «ice coupling» reached 90 mm. Because of intensity of ice accumulation, Ice melting was carried out every day. Despite high speed of ice accumulation, strong wind and low temperatures, powermen managed  to prevent the phenomenon - "dancing" of wires”, dangerous for transmission electric air-lines.

Ice melting have already carried out four of seven industrial branches of the Saratov branch of the company - Pravoberezhny, Central, Zavolzhsky and Privolzhsky.

In connection with the peculiarities of a relief and a wind rose the most frequent and strong ice, as a rule, is observed in territory of service of Prvoberezhny branch, where  107 ice meltings were carried out from the beginning of the year.

For today carrying out of ice melting is the most effective way of struggle against sticking of snow and ice on wires of electric air-lines. Special schemes are used with artificial making local short circuit, thus a heating of a certain site of an electric main takes place. Snow and ice melt and release a wire. In the Saratov branch of “IDGC of Volga”. JSC are mounted 495 schemes. Schemes of melting of ice pass test examinations in the autumn, during preparation for passage of an autumn-winter period.
