According to the decision of Severneftegazprom Board of Directors Alexander Popov has been elected as Director General of the company.

Alexander Popov was born in June 1965 in the settlement of Rovnoye, Ochakov district, Nikolayev Oblast. In 1988 he graduated from the Tyumen Industrial Institute, getting specialty in Oil and Gas Well Drilling.

A. Popov has been with Gazprom for 12 years. Between 1997 and 2001 – Chief Drilling Technologist, Head of the Geology and Drilling Development Directorate, Zapsibgazprom. In 2001-2006 – Chief Engineer, Deputy Director General, Severneftegazprom. In 2006-2008 he acted as Severneftegazprom Deputy Director General responsible for development, geology and drilling. Since 2008 – Acting Director General, Severneftegazprom.

Eduard Khudaynatov, the previous head of Severneftegazprom, has been relieved of his post due to a job transfer.
