OJSC North West Telecom has ensured that the telecommunication facilities in the North West Federal District are ready for the elections of members of the 5th State Duma of the RF Federal Assembly. In total, the OJSC North West Telecom provides telecommunications for 240 territorial electoral commissions and over 8,200 precinct electoral commissions.

OJSC North West Telecom has provided the territorial and precinct electoral commissions with telecommunication facilities and concluded agreements on telephone installation in the premises allocated to the commissions and voting precincts. The preparation involved checking and testing of the telecommunication facilities required for the Elections State Automated System (SAS Elections).

In all the regions serviced by the Company, its experts have tested the stand-by equipment and emergency power supply equipment. The Company has also ensured that during the preparation and election period (29 November - 5 December 2007) the emergency repair teams and transport will be on a 24 hour duty and that applications and complaints from the electoral commissions of different levels will also be processed round-the-clock.

Also, as part of the preparation for the State Duma elections, OJSC North West Telecom provided technical support for the All-Russia Telephone Conference of the RF Central Electoral Commission with the electoral commissions of all the constituent entities of the country, which took place on 27 November 2007.
