February 26, 2007

TGC-9 quickly liquidated blowout of the conduit

On February 24th at 6 o’clock p.m. they finished works on reconstruction of the pipe header from Permskaya HPP-9. Thanks to team active work of powermen and authority they managed to avoid serious limitations of heating of consumers.

The blowout of the conduit of direct delivery water (diameter – 1000 mm) of heat derivation No.4 of Permskaya HPP-9 happened on February 23rd at 4.20 p.m. At the moment of damage the station was bearing the heating load of 480 Gkal/hour, circulation of water in the system was 8000 tons/hour, switchings of modes were not made. Heat derivation No.4 is the main one, it supplies the city with heat energy (totally, there are four derivations). As a result of the damage, the heat supply in Industrialny district of Perm was disturbed, the station reduced the electric load, supply of production consumers with industrial steam did not stop.

In 40 minutes after the blowout they isolated and cut the defective pipeline section. At 7 o’clock p.m. they restored supply of the heat carrier to consumers by the duplicate circuit.

By midnight on February 24th they had resumed the supply of the heat carrier of the majority of consumers, with the exception of “Nagorny” location that is situated by the relief in the highest part of the city. At 4 o’clock a.m. they had completely fixed the electric load of HPP and circulation of the heat carrier with consumption of 6000 tons/hour. At 10 o’clock a.m. the temperature of the delivery water was raised to 100 degrees Celsius.

Remedial maintenance on the defective section started right away after detection of the damage. Works with intake of special heavy technique were carried out round-the-clock. For the purpose of coordination of works representatives of TGC-9 entered into the headquarters on clearing of the damage that was urgently established by authority of Perm territory and the city of Perm.

By 6 o’clock p.m. on February 24th – only a day after the blowout - the defective pipeline section at Permskaya HPP-9 was replaced and at 7 o’clock a.m. on February 25th they started launching of heat power in it. Since then heat networks have been working according to the regular plan of work.
