Under the fire-alarm from the supervisory console more than ten fire-crews took part in “practice” fire extinguishing on Sverdlovsk HPP. The Emergency Control Ministry’ (ECM) mobile headquarter was launched in the black oil depositary’ area. The TGC-9’ employees together with the Force Control Centre of the Russian ECM Public Administration in Sverdlovsk region realized the fire-tactical exercises on the HPP.

As a result of “practice” depressurization and partial distraction of the tank with the 10 tones capacity the black oil was overflowed and the fire flared up. Also the ecocatastrophe’ threat for the city appeared. The fire was given the high third number of complexity/danger. The on-duty personnel opportunely informed the rescuers, took all the necessary measures in order to prevent the fire spreading and the production shutdown. The automatic fire fighting system of the black oil tank was enabled - this is the stationary cooling system and the remote foam generator.

The arrived fire-crews evaluated the situation, conducted the military deployment in order to cut off the fire from the neighboring tanks. They also carried out the foam attack against the blazed up one. The unique, made in Germany 50-metres auto-ladder “Iveco Magirius” was used in fire fighting; one of two presented in Ekaterinburg.
Dmitry Ruf, who is the on-duty fire fighting shiftman of the ECM Public Administration in Sverdlovsk region, thinks that the well coordinated and professional operations of the TGC-9 power engineering specialists’ and the fire-screws confirmed their readiness for prevention of the emergency situations.
