The conference call was organized by the United Financial Group (UFG), a leading Russian company providing financial and consulting services.
It was the first public speech by Vasiliev as the general director deputy for corporate policy and asset management. Speaking to investors and analysts, he focused on short-term objectives and the problems of the power sector restructuring.
According to Vasiliev, one of his main tasks at this position will be to assist to the efficient restructuring of the company. – My goal is to act in the interests of all shareholders of the company, he stressed. In addition, he promised that this process will open and transparent as much as possible.
Vasiliev spoke on AO MOSENERGO's restructuring perspectives, saying that two companies will be set up in place of AO MOSENERGO – a Moscow-based utility and a regional power company. According to the existing plan, the regional company will include power stations from other Russian regions. "It is important to find a compromise for various shareholder groups, though not all of them are ready to accept existing proposals," Vasiliev said. In particular, we have to reach agreement with Moscow government, which has a view of his own regarding the restructuring.
Vasiliev also stressed the importance of improving AO MOSENERGO's financial results and increasing the efficiency of the company's asset management.
According to Vasiliev, the Russian power sector restructuring should happen along with the creation of a competitive market. He also said that a solid legislative framework should be established to foster market prices.
