SPIEF 2016: Lenenergo signs an agreement with Siemens

On 17 June 2016, Lenenergo PJSC (part of Rosseti Group) signed a cooperation agreement with Siemens LLC on modernization of the power grids of the Northern Capital’s Central District. The document was endorsed by the two company leaders within the scope of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Placing their signatures on the document were the Acting General Director of Lenenergo PJSC – Roman Berdnikov, and the President of Siemens Russia – Dietrich Moller. The parties agreed to cooperate in the implementation of a comprehensive project to modernize the power grids of St. Petersburg.
The agreement envisions an analysis of the existing power grid and the subsequent possibility of formulating a modernization program for the power-grid complex of the city’s Central District, including the integration of Smart Grid elements. In this connection, it was decided to develop different scenarios for shifting the existing grid to the “smart” level. Company specialists will be formulating joint proposals on optimizing the design and structure of power-supply network management with the aim of minimizing related maintenance costs.
The partners intend to use cutting-edge technologies and solutions in the area of grid automation, control systems, “smart” record-keeping and the use of Siemens equipment for the outfitting of feeder stations. Priority objectives of agreement implementation include: tapping into the capabilities of new technological connections, minimization of the time spent detecting and correcting grid failures, and reducing technical and commercial losses.
