November 6, 2020

In Grozny, the first in the North Caucasian Federal District digital 110 kV substation Gorod is launched

The substation was put into operation by Alexander Novak, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Chechen Republic, and Pavel Livinskiy, General Director of Rosseti, in the presence of the Company’s board members and special guests.

A new brand digital facility (capacity of 80 MVA) will become the main supply center for Grozny. The works were completed by the last Power Engineers’ Day, December 22, 2019, but the ceremonial launch was postponed due to the epidemiological situation. The cost of the project with the outgoing overhead and cable power transmission lines included is RUB 1.3 billion.

The facility is to provide:

·       Reliable power supply for 306,000 Grozny residents;

·       High-quality power transmission to 80 key and socially important facilities including the airport;

·       Options for technological connection of new consumers;

·       Conditions for a faster social economic growth of the Chechen Republic.

‘Social and economic development of the North Caucasus is one of the national policy’s priorities. The modern and available infrastructure is a prerequisite of successful implementation of the policy. The new substation is the most up-to-date digital electric power substation in the region and one of the most technologically advanced substations in the country,’ says Alexander Novak.

‘We remember the hard time when everyone was dreaming about at least one functional light bulb in the house. Following the course of the first President, Hero of the Russian Federation Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov, we managed to provide every house with electricity. Today, we have no longer to restore the networks, we rather reach new levels and make them up-to-date, reliable and long-lasting. I express my appreciation to the Government of the Russian Federation for help and to the management of Rosseti for assistance in building the digital Gorod substation which is the most technologically advanced in the North Caucasus,’ says Kadyrov.

‘The Gorod substation has been built in a record-breaking time, just in six months. It will allow to vividly demonstrate the effect of the Digital Transformation-2030 concept for the region and local residents. The power facility is controlled remotely, 100% observability is ensured, which suggests the highest reliability of the facility,’ notes Pavel Livinskiy.

The equipment utilized at the facility is 100% made in Russia.

Advanced digital solutions are utilized including the microprocessor relay protection and automation devices, emergency event recording, systems of telecommunication, collection and transmission. Over 2,200 telemetering signals are processed in automatic mode.
