A gala ceremony was held in St. Petersburg to give awards to winners of an open federal competition for journalists, St. Petersburg: A Dream Reborn put on in the context of the city's tercentenary by the Russian Civic Organization, MediaSoyuz, with help from the Information Department of the Federal President's Administration and support from SISTEMA JSFC, which is an official sponsor of the tercentenary celebrations in St. Petersburg.
The competition was held among nearly a thousand projects across the Russian Federation. More than forty prize winners included newspapers such as Nedelia Gelenjika (Russia's Black Sea coast), Buryatia (Ulan-Ude, East Siberia), Obzor (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Russkaya mysl (Paris), magazines Rodina, Klepa and Den za dnem (Tallinn, Estonia), TV companies Ostankino, VGTRK and NTV, radio stations Voronezhskaya GTRK, Karelia GTRK and Udmurtia GTRK, and non-FSU Russian-language radio stations such as Finland Companion, the Voice of Israel and the Voice of Sweden.
The award ceremony for the competition winners turned into a festive and colorful event. The winners were given prizes and memento presents by SISTEMA JSFC member companies, in particular, plastic credit cards for $2,000 each from AKB MBRR (for first place in all nominations); telephones and express cards from the Mobile TeleSystems company; voluntary medical insurance policies, with access to Russia's leading clinics, from the ROSNO insurance company; and package tours from VAO Intourist (to second-place winners). All competition winners living in St. Petersburg were given an insurance card from the St. Petersburg branch of ROSNO entitling them to premium discounts on all kinds of voluntary insurance policies.
