MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

March 5, 2003

In 2002, AO MOSENERGO managed to reduce electricity losses by more than 5% against 2001

Last year AO MOSENERGO delivered 69 bn kWt-h of electricity to the grid. Technical losses amounted to 9.2 bn kWt-h. By reducing the losses AO MOSENERGO saved more than 290 mln rubles.

To reduce electricity losses in the grid, Energosbyt, the sales division of AO MOSENERGO, implemented a set of special measures. The company focused on upgrading metering devices and expanding their use. With this aim, AO MOSENERGO installed new equipment devices at AO MOSENEGO branches and replaced old meters with new electronic ones, which make it easier to process the collected data.

Last year AO MOSENERGO checked the electricity metering systems and verified the declared meter readings. These measures were applied to major consumers and wholesale resellers. Energosbyt and AO MOSENERGO grid branches conducted more than 4,000 raids to detect thefts and unaccounted electricity consumption. As a result AO MOSENERGO found 652 mln kWt-h of unaccounted electricity, which is 55 mln kWt-h more than in 2001. These results confirmed the usefulness of this operation.

In 2003 AO MOSENERGO will focus on implementing automated consumption control equipment at its branches. The company will continue to upgrade the technical base, improve technologies for metering electricity supplies and ways to reduce so-called technical losses. AO MOSENERGO also plans to launch personnel training sessions at Energosbyt ant other divisions.
