Moscow, 28 March 2006. An International Conference and Seminar on quality management for senior executives of RAO UES subsidiaries and associates has opened in Moscow today.

The Conference and Seminar are organized by RAO "UES of Russia" as part of the Programme of Actions to Improve Reliability of the UES of Russia pursuant to the Order of the RAO UES Management Board Chairman on the implementation of quality management systems at the Company's subsidiaries.

In the course of the electricity reform, RAO "UES of Russia" places special emphasis on ensuring reliable operation of Russia's power grid and uninterrupted power to consumers. Special importance is attached to improving the existing systems and management technologies, including the quality management systems.

The Conference and Seminar is chaired by Viktor Pauli, Deputy Technical Director and Chief Technical Inspector of RAO "UES of Russia", who is in charge of the processt to implement production quality management systems at RAO "UES of Russia".

The event will be attended by over 200 quality management executives and specialists of RAO UES entities responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of quality management systems. Among the event participants are representatives of Russia's energy institutes and universities in Russia, and officers of some power companies and organizations, including from Germany, Poland, and Hungary.

The Conference and Seminar participants will attend a training course "Fundamentals of Development, Implementation and Monitoring of Quality Management Systems According to the International and Russian Standards (ISO 9000)". Upon completion of the course, the officers will receive certificates of competency required to implement the international standards in quality management.

The event will last until 31 March 2006.
