The workshop is held with view to speed up the project, particularly its 2nd stage, which will introduce BSC to the production, purchasing, technical and financial departments.

Severstal's Department of Strategic Planning initiated the BSC project and the workshop itself. The workshop will touch upon main principles of new system of strategic management at Severstal and share experience in developing BSCs in the Sales and HR departments, which participated in the pilot stage of the project.

The result of introducing BSCs in the Sales and HR departments were presented on  November 1, 2002 and were evaluated positively by the company's top management. The strategic objective of introducing the BSC at Severstal is to build a system of strategic communications within the company. This is a completely new concept for Russia.  Severstal is the first Russian company to incorporate the BSC.
