To the jubilee of St. Petersburg LOMO PLC got original present from world-famous television "BBC". This is film "LOMO-camera. Shot from the hip", dedicated to camera "LOMO-compact", LOMO and lomography.

   Initiation of creation of the film belongs to the department of television, which is called BBC Four and specialized on the covering of international cultural projects.

   Alex Graham - journalist from Great Britain has become the editor, producer and director of the film. The work has been continuing for eight months from June 2002 till January 2003. Shootings have passed in different cities and regions of Russia - in St. Petersburg, Moscow, at the Caucasus and also in foreign countries - in Austria, Great Britain, China. Creation of the picture was financed for the means of the television.

   The duration of the film is about one hour. Authors describe the genre of the picture as documentary, however, they headline that there is not documentary in its tradition understanding. Thanks to several lomographic techniques, used by the author, the film is a very lively and spontaneous. It's possible to know from this picture many interesting facts about LOMO history, about appearing of lomography, cooperation between LOMO and the International Lomographic Society, new projects of lomographers, about meaning of lomography for lomographers. A great significance is given to the story about St. Petersburg optical enterprise without which the appearance and development of lomography would not be possible.

   Immediate participants tell about events - both from the side of LOMO and from the side of the Lomographic Society, including former general director of LOMO Ilya Klebanov, who is now the Minister of industry, science and technologies of the Russian Federation.

   The picture was already broadcast on the international channel BBC Four on February 2003. It' planned to show the film on this television 6-8 times more. Besides, nowadays different opportunities of edition and distribution of the film are discussed, including the idea to make it by means of laser discs.

   Workers of the workshop, where unique camera conquered almost the whole world, is produced were the first spectators of the picture in St. Petersburg.
