On working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov and Shinsuke Kitagawa

Today, as part of the 3rd meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee between Gazprom and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Sochi hosted a working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Shinsuke Kitagawa, Director-General of the Natural Resources and Fuel Department with the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.

In the course of the meeting Alexander Ananenkov informed the Japanese partners of the progress in Gazprom’s activities stepped as part of the Eastern Gas Program, including of the work being done by the Company to create the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas transmission system.

The parties agreed that the execution of the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas pipeline project and subsequently the Yakutia – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok project will create a favorable environment for prospective extra gas deliveries to be organized from Russia to Japan.

“In meeting the priority challenge of satisfying growing gas demand in Russia’s Far East regions, Gazprom sees the potential for prospective deliveries of natural gas, its by-products and gas chemicals from Russia’s Vladivostok to Japan,” said Alexander Ananenkov at the end of the meeting.

The Framework Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Japan’s Ministry of the Economy, Trade and Industry was signed in 2005.

To implement the Agreement, the parties set up the Joint Coordinating Committee, the previous meeting of which took place in Tokyo in December 2007. The Committee is co-chaired by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Shinsuke Kitagawa, Director-General of the Natural Resources and Fuel Department, Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.

The Committee includes the Joint Working Group for various joint activities.
