COMSTAR-UTS provided telecom support during Barack Obama visit to Moscow

July 21, 2009, Moscow. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (JSC COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, participated in communication services provision during US President Barack Obama first official visit to Moscow, July 6 - 8. AT&T, one of the largest global telecom operators, became COMSTAR-UTS partner to implement this project as their American counterpart.

In accordance with applications from the US party, COMSTAR-UTS provided a range of communication services for Barak Obama visit to Moscow and for the Russian-American summit. COMSTAR-UTS arranged an info link system in Gostiniy Dvor where the US President addressed the graduates of New Economic School. A full-scale communication node was rolled out in Gostiniy Dvor to host distribution fiber optic network, data link with redundancy option and a capacity of 10 Mbit/s, 200 IP-addresses and a required amount of telephone numbers were allocated, several Wi-Fi Internet access points and fixed-line ADSL access were installed for the White House Press Office and other departments involved with the preparation of Barack Obama visit. Thus, COMSTAR-UTS provided local, interurban, and international telephony and wideband Internet access services for the participants of the event at Gostiniy Dvor: official delegation members, overseas mass media journalists, and support personnel. Besides, COMSTAR-UTS provided a capacity of 16 phone numbers in E1 digital transport at the territory of “Rossiya” state aviation company, Vnukovo airport. One of the equipment key suppliers to provide links for COMSTAR-UTS telecom services was Cisco Systems, Inc.

“It is important for us that this project is of high state significance, that we have positive experience of interaction with recognized leaders of global telecom industry, with the fact that for COMSTAR-UTS this was a commercially successful project, - says Sergei Pridantsev, President of COMSTAR-UTS. – The flexibility and direct involvement of COMSTAR-UTS and its entire staff helped to support the White House Press Office.  Especially we appreciate the excellent work of our network monitoring center which distantly monitored the quality of all equipment operation. Thus, reliability and failsafe provision of communication services were ensured. All of these efforts resulted in the completion of the Gostiny Dvor project ahead of schedule. We proved once again our ability to efficiently solve most complicated tasks with due consideration of customer’s requests of any level.

COMSTAR-UTC acted several times as a provider of telecom services for the arrangement of US official visits to Russia. Thus, in April last year, COMSTAR-UTS provided communication services during the meeting of the Presidents of two countries – Vladimir Putin and George Bush in Sochi.
