Moscow. 2 June 2005. According to the latest updates, in the first five months of 2005, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity year-on-year by 1.5% to 286.7 billion kWh from 291 billion kWh.

In the first five months of the year, the hydroelectric power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 52.6 billion kWh, up 1% from the same period last year, whereas the thermal plants' generation grew 1.6% to 238.4 billion kWh.

The increased output of electricity by RAO UES power plants made it possible to meet the growing electricity consumption in the country, which rose from 397.5 billion kWh to 403.7 billion kWh, or 1.5%, in January-May 2005.
