PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (“MMK”) announces that it has signed a contract with SMS group GmbH (Germany) regarding the supply of equipment to be used in the reconstruction of the finishing train of hot-rolling Mill 2500 at sheet rolling plant No. 4. Under the terms of the contract, the equipment will be supplied over a period of three years.
The reconstruction of Mill 2500 is part of MMK’s long-term strategic development programme and is aimed at modernizing the finishing train operation, and in particular improving the automated control system for technological processes.
MMK CEO Pavel Shilyaev said: “The hot-rolling Mill 2500 reconstruction is part of MMK’s 2025 Strategy. Upon its completion, we will benefit from expanding our product mix, reducing production costs and increasing the Mill’s capacity with a potential increase to annual production volumes by 500,000 tonnes.”
