AO MOSENERGO's CHP-16 carries out maintenance in preparation for heating season

The maintenance on the plant began as early as last March. In late April, the plant had completed the overhaul of boiler No. 5 and turbine No. 2. The Company has carried out a comprehensive check of the equipment and eliminated the defects. The technical parameters of the boiler and the turbine were improved to ensure 100% reliability in the winter season. The Company has also carried out maintenance on turbine No. 5.

This year, the Company put a special emphasis on upgrades of power-distribution equipment. This equipment will be switched from 3 kV to 6 kV. The work is done under the upgrade plan for 1996-2010. Last year, the Company had replaced two distribution units. Currently, two more units are being upgraded. The old equipment had been in use since the mid-fifties and so new modern equipment is being installed. The Company has also replaced two 10MVA transformers.

Currently, the Company overhauls 110 MWt turbine generator No. 7. In August, the company plans to complete the maintenance on water boiler PTVM-100 No. 3.

Within the maintenance campaign, AO MOSENERGO will have to renovate buildings and facilities at the plant. The Company will replace the roof of the turbine facility at CHP-16. The maintenance is being carried out on cooler No. 1. The new moisture collectors and spray coolers will be installed to make the effective use of the heat power.

AO MOSENERGO will invest in the maintenance campaign at CHP-16 180 million rubles. All works have been financed from AO MOSENERGO's own funds.

CHP-16 provides electricity and heat to the Northwestern part of Moscow. The construction of plant started before the war – in 1940 and ended in 1955. The installed capacity of the power plant is 360 MWt. It annually produces more than 2 bn kWt-h of power.
