As part of the Eastern Economic Forum, Rosneft and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) signed an agreement on funding regional social projects. The document was signed by Rosneft Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin and Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Egor Borisov.
According to the document, the parties plan to develop their cooperation in implementing socially important projects and programs in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Starting from 2017, Rosneft will provide financial support to the republican project for construction of the teaching and laboratory building of the Junior Academy of Science of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The project is part of preparations to celebrating the 100-th anniversary of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and is aimed to create a national scientific and educational center in the vicinity of Yakutsk for 150 students and capable of accommodating up to 100 senior students of Physics and Mathematics, Science, Information Technologies, and Engineering.
Every year Rosneft allocates substantial funds to implementation of social projects. Since the start of 2017, the Company has already contributed to implementation of more than 600 social projects in the regions of its operations, having allocated to them over 6.2 billion rubles.
