MOSCOW, April 15, 2003 - RUSAL, the world’s second largest aluminium company, announced today that its Aluminium Household Appliances Plant (RUSAL Durables), located in Samara, has received the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management certification.
The certificate is internationally recognized, certifying that the plant’s quality control system is in compliance with international standards. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) of Norway, an independent registrar organization, carried out the assessment.
A number of developments have been introduced at RUSAL Durables in order to bring the plant’s production process in compliance with international quality standards. The production lines were upgraded to produce cookware and other products of a modern design; old paper packaging was replaced by shrinkable film packaging. New production lines were introduced to reduce the number of readjustments, which results in increased yield ratio (reduced percentage of defective items).
RUSAL’s Production Director, Valery Matvienko commented, “Each subsidiary certificate is a further step in RUSAL’s drive to fully comply with the highest internationally recognised standards. The ISO 9001 certificate reaffirms our commitment to meeting customer requirements and to continually improve the quality of our products and processes.”
