Water of Nizhneturinsk pond is used at the station as the heat pump of turbosets and after it fulfills its function it goes back to the pond.

Analyzer of availability of oil in water (petrol, kerosine, oil) “Fluorat” was installed at Nizhneturinskaya HPP two months ago. Till recently they carried out its testing and development. Now the device is working at its full capacity. Water enters the oil heat pump that is used in three turbines. Once an hour “Fluorat” makes measurements, determining the purity of water on the output after cooling of each turbine. The principle of work of the device is based on the physical properties of light refraction. If the standard of oily substances in water is exceeded, when the ray goes through the sample water and the prism, the coefficient of light refraction changes. On the board of operation of the station functions light and sound alarm. The oil cooler that “assumed” the drain, is drawn from work, the damaged surface of an oil-based pipe goes to repair.

Now, when the device is completely mastered, the labour of powermen on the environmental protection has become considerably easier, and waters of Nizhneturinsk pond are protected from harmful disposal even more effectively.
