Moscow. 6 July 2005. Today Vladimir Schkolnik, Minister of energy and mineral resources of Kazakhstan, and Andrey Rappoport, Member of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia", in the city of Astana signed a protocol on establishment of Russian-Kazakh joint enterprise on the basis of OAO "Station Ekibastuzskaya TPP-2".
The protocol specifies the settlement of the debt of "National Power Grid Kazakhstanenergo" to RAO "UES of Russia" as well as intentions of the parties to work out and implement a series of joint measures aimed at efficient operation of the joint enterprise* on the basis of OAO "Station Ekibastuzskaya TPP-2" in 2005-2010.
* The joint enterprise is established within the framework of debt settlement of "National Power Grid Kazakhstanenergo" to RAO "UES of Russia" for 1993-1996 electric power energy supplies. In accordance with the protocol (January 19, 2000) of negotiations between Russian and Kazakh governmental authorities and the protocol (February 7, 2002) of the working meeting of co-chairpersons of Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, the debt is to be settled through Kazakhstan’s transmission of 50% stock of OAO "Station Ekibastuzskaya TPP-2" to RAO "UES of Russia" as well as property complexes of North load and transportation administration and "Trudovaya" and "Udarnaya" rail terminals.
