MOSCOW - “COMSTAR – United TeleSystems” JSC (“Comstar” or “the Group”) (LSE:CMST), the leading integrated telecommunications operator in Russia and the  CIS, today announced the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of  Shareholders (“EGM”) held on August 6, 2008.

Due to a majority of votes abstaining, the EGM did not approve the resolutions on the integration of Digital Telephone Networks South CJSC and Intersvyaz Service CJSC into Comstar-UTS JSC and the amendments to Comstar’s Charter.
