Maintenance campaign at CHP- 8 almost over

Presently, the Company is carrying out maintenance on power boiler no. 12. The specialists are thoroughly checking all main and auxiliary equipment. After this check they will be able to assess its reliability in conditions of winter loads. The work is expected to be finished soon.

On September 30, AO MOSENERGO will start repair works at power boiler no. 14. This is the last stage of the maintenance works at CHP-8, which were started in early March. At that time, the specialists started the overhaul of boiler unit TGM-96. This service helped to make the boiler more economical and increased its reliability.

During the maintenance campaign, the company carried out the overhaul of power unit no. 5. In addition to equipment checks and elimination of breakdowns, the Company cleaned the oil system of this power unit. As of today, the company has completed the maintenance of the power plant's heating equipment. During the maintenance campaign the specialists checked grid pumps, boilers and internal heating equipment, having eliminated all defects found in the course of the overhaul.

This year AO MOSENERGO upgraded the fire extinguishing system at the plant. From now on, to extinguish fire, the Company will spray water instead of using foam. The use of water will make extinguishing more efficient and safer. The new equipment meets all requirements of the modern fire safety.

The maintenance works at the power plant will be completed by October 11.

CHP-8 is one of the oldest power stations in the Company. It was put into operation in 1930. As of today, the installed capacity of the power plant amounts to 605 MWt. CHP-8 provides power to the population and industrial consumers in the Eastern and South-Eastern districts of Moscow. The major consumers of the power plant are OAO Serp i Molot, OAO Moskvich and the International Bearing Plant Avtoshtamp.
