Aeroflot and LOT have signed code-sharing agreement

September 16, 2003, Moscow – in the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Moscow LOT-Polish Airlines Chairman of the Board Marek Grabarek and Aeroflot General Director Valery Okulov have signed the Code-Sharing Agreement on free sale basis.

Both airlines start operating 14 joint flights a week: Aeroflot - 7 flights and LOT – 7 flights, effective with the winter schedule launch for 2003-2004 season. Two daily flights between Moscow and Warsaw will be made in the morning and evening (departure from Moscow is at 10.05 and 21.05).

According to Aeroflot-Russian Airlines General Director Valery Okulov, the bilateral cooperation in the framework of free sale will enable Aeroflot to provide better service for passengers due to increasing flight frequency for the route Moscow – Warsaw – Moscow and will also make it possible to get extra incomes at the expense of more efficient control for commercial flight traffic.

Flights of both companies made by Boeing 737 (of the Polish company) and Tu 154 (of the Russian company) have business class and economy class services. In Moscow LOT and Aeroflot are served in the terminal of Sheremeyevo-2 Airport. In Warsaw Okecie Airport the flights of Aeroflot and LOT will be also made from one terminal.

The Code-Sharing Agreement signed today is the development of old traditions of bilateral cooperation between Aeroflot and LOT. Moscow and Warsaw air line was open on June 20, 1955. In 1970s Aeroflot and LOT made joint flights from Moscow to the cities of the Black Sea coast of the Soviet Union – Simferopol and Sochi. From winter 2001-2002 bilateral Code-Sharing/BSA Agreement (mutual providing with the coordinated number of seats on the flight) became effective; it was signed in Moscow on September 20, 2001.

Besides the Code-Sharing Agreement with LOT Aeroflot already has agreements on joint carriages with 18 airline companies including CSA, MALEV, Air France, Austrian Airlines and others.

Aeroflot makes regular flights to 103 points of 54 countries of the world. In 2002 the airline company transported 5.5 million passengers.
