Moscow, 9 October. Today, Sergey Dubinin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia", and Dr. Wulf Bernotat, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of E.ON AG, have signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Electricity Industry. The Agreement was signed during the Russia-Germany Business Forum in Yekaterinburg. The Agreement establishes the parties' intentions in their long-term strategic partnership.
For instance, E.ON AG is looking into the possibility of taking part in the tenders to be held by RAO "UES of Russia" in order to select management companies to run RAO UES generating companies, as well as making direct investments in the Russian power industry.
The Agreement states that the top priorities of the companies' cooperation are renovation of the existing power plants, improvement of their management system, enhancement of the operational efficiency and extension of their working life. Accomplishment of these goals will ensure more reliable electricity supply to Russian consumers and help improve the environmental situation in Russia.
A pilot project to restructure power plants envisages the installation, by 2008, of two 400 MW combined-cycle gas turbines. The performance characteristics of these turbines will meet the top international standards. Investments in the construction of the two generators are estimated to be EUR 400-450 million. The combined-cycle generating plants are planned to be built on a site adjacent to the Schekinskaya TPP in Tula Region.
