MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

October 8, 2003

On October 7, AO MOSENERGO held a press conference at the start of the heating season

The press conference was attended by the deputy chief engineer for heating equipment AO MOSENERGO Dmitry Barshak, deputy chief engineer of Heating Grids Georgiy Neiman, head of heating equipment repairs and maintenance Mikhail Fedorov and deputy head of the power sales Vladimir Cheledenkov.

The press conference was dedicated to the readiness of the Moscow power system for the coming heating season. According to Barshak, preparations for the Moscow heating system for winter season are over. The quality and volume of the work performed will ensure the necessary reliability of power supply for consumers in winter, the deputy chief engineer said.

During the maintenance campaign, AO MOSENERGO tested and carried out maintenance on all 2,400 km of heating lines and eliminated 4,700 defects on the pipelines. The amount of damage attests to the right approach to the maintenance and testing on the part of Moscow Heating Grids, as well as to the higher quality of maintenance, Barshak said.

In nine months of 2003, AO MOSENERGO replaced 72.4 km of worn-out heating lines and laid 7.7 km of pipes insulated with polyurethane foam. As a result of the capital construction program in 2003, in nine months of 2003, AO MOSENERGO laid 15.5 km of heating lines (against 16.5 km planned for 2003). The rest of the maintenance and repair works will be done until the end of the year in strict accordance with the schedule, which had been agreed with the Moscow Government and will not affect the heat supply for consumers.

This year, AO MOSENERGO has allocated 2.8 bn rubles for winter preparations. In total, AO MOSENERGO's expenditures on winter preparations amounted to 8.5 bn rubles.

On September 22, AO MOSENERGO started heating trials in the Moscow region. In the first turn, the heat was supplied to kindergartens, education institutions, hospitals and clinics. Today, the heat is supplied to all of the most important municipal facilities, social institutions and residential buildings. The administrative and industrial facilities will be heated only if they owe no debts AO MOSENERGO.
