MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

October 13, 2003

AO MOSENERGO completes the construction of Academicheskaya substation

By the end of November, AO MOSENERGO plans to complete the construction and commission of 220kV substation Academicheskaya. It will provide power to new residential districts in southwest Moscow, which are built under a Moscow Government housing program.

It will be the most advanced AO MOSENERGO substation. It has two 63,000 kVA transformers manufactured at OAO KhK Elektrozavod. The substation is equipped with an automated monitoring and control system, which considerably increases the reliability of operation and simplifies the technological process. The operation is fully automated. Today, specialists are installing 220 kV ABB-made SF6 switches. As compared to older oil switches, SF6 switches are more compact and have longer operation lives.

Academicheskaya substation is a "closed" substation: all equipment is installed inside the substation's building. It has smaller size than older substations and unique design, which matches the surrounding architecture style. The substation has efficient noise reduction equipment, which meets noise standards for residential areas. Special ice/snow-melting equipment will be installed on the roof while the substation premises will be protected with a video-monitoring system.

The construction of the substation began last fall. The construction design was developed at AO MOSENERGO's Mosenergoproject Institute. Currently, the substation is ready for operation by 90%. Specialists are carrying out the installation and adjustment of power equipment. After comprehensive tests in November, the substation will be put into operation.

The project's cost is around 600 mln rubles. AO MOSENERGO financed the project with its own funds.

In June 2003, AO MOSENERGO put into operation a new 220 kV substation Shukolovo in the Dmitrov region near Moscow. It ensures reliable power supply for nearby population centers and several ski resorts.

In 2004, AO MOSENERGO plans to complete the construction of two more 200 kV substations in Moscow – Konkovo (South-Western District of Moscow) and Narvskaya (North-Western District of Moscow).
